1 DAY TREKKING, PAWAI
KAO
Full day. Start from the Tourism Office in Muang Sing at 9:00 AM by
Tuk Tuk, stop in Naxai Village (Hmong) and learn about them (What
do they do?, How about their way of life, their traditions etc). From
Naxai to Houaykhaem village walk 30 minutes to see the Akha dee jor
and Akha pfian minorities. Walk up the mountain to see agricultural
fields and old forest. From the top of the mountain you have an excellent
view of the Muang Sing valley. Then go to Pawai Kao (Akha puli) and
have lunch at the village, after that walk down to Laosee village
(Akha puli) and finally return by Tuk Tuk to the Tourism Office.

2 DAYS/1 NIGHT TREKKING, SOPEE KAO
The first day starts at 9:00 AM from the Muang Sing Tourism Office
by Tuk Tuk. Stop in Kokmuang village (Hmong) for about 15 minutes.
Continue by Tuk Tuk to Seuadaeng village (Akha puli). From here
walk to Houayhoy village (Akha dee jor) and up and down the mountains.
Have lunch along the trail. Walk up the mountain to see agricultural
fields and dense forest. From the top of the mountain you have an
excellent view of the Muang Sing valley. Stay overnight at the lodge
in Sopee kao village. While waiting for dinner visit the village,
walk around and meet the people, learn about traditional Akha architecture.
After dinner, you will receive a massage which is traditionally
given to the guests staying overnight in the village.

The second day starts with walking to the top of the
mountain. From there you can enjoy two different views on (Muang Sing
and The forest). The trail passes though scenic forests. During the
trek, the village guides will show you the place where wild animals
come for drinking water. After a walk of about 4 hours you will arrive
in Huanamai Village (Akha puli). Finally get the Tuk Tuk to Muang
Sing's Tourism Office.

3 DAYS/2 NIGHTS TREKKING, SOPEE KAO-PAWAI KAO
Day 1: Muang Sing - Sopee kao. Start 9:00 AM from Muang Sing by Tuk
Tuk. Visit Kokmuang Village (Hmong) and continue to Seuadaeng Village
(Akha puli). From here walk about one hour to Houayhoy Village (Akha
dee jor), then up and down through the mountain passing agricultural
fields and forests, have lunch along the trail. From the top of the
mountain you have an excellent view of the Muang Sing valley. Stay
overnight at the lodge in Sopee kao Village (the village of wonderful
tea).
While waiting for dinner visit the village, walk around and meet the
people, learn about traditional Akha architecture. After dinner, you
will receive a massage which is traditionally given to the guests

| Day 2: Sopee kao - Pawai kao. After breakfast walk
for about 8 hours up to the mountain passing scenic forests along
the trek. From the top of the mountain you can see two different views
(Muang Sing view and Forest view). Have lunch along the trail before
arriving in Pawai kao Village (Akha puli) and overnight at the lodge.
While waiting for dinner you will learn about the village, after dinner
you will receive a massage, which is traditionally given to the guests
staying overnight in the village. |

Day 3: Pawai kao - Muang Sing. 4-5 hours. After breakfast
start walk down to Laosee Village (Akha puli) passing agricultural
fields, visit the village a few minutes and continue walking to Silihueng
Village (Tai neau), the village of Rice Noodles. Finally, get the
Tuk Tuk to Muang Sing.

WHAT TO BRING
Sturdy shoes, sun-lotion, hat, mosquito repellent. Clothes for change
and sarong for women for bathing. Rain coat during rainy season
(May to September). Warm sweater or pullover during the cold season
(October to February). Flashlight.
THE GUIDES
The treks will be led by certified local guides. These men and women
are experienced locals with a great respect for the natural and
cultural features of Muang Sing. Make sure to ask them questions
about the environment you are trekking through, help them practice
their English and consult them if you have any questions about village
or forest protocols.
